Nation Before Franklin, Franklin Before Party Or Self

Why is TUF needed? Franklin Township, Somerset NJ, suffers from high taxes, eminent domain abused, out of control development, paralyzing traffic, and a school board that has been so unresponsive to the public that it took two years of pressure before they would televise their own meetings even though they had their own cable channel. This site and the people behind it are dedicated to bringing our community back to the people.

BOE Elections      School Spending

BOE Elections are on April 21st. TUF is collecting information from the candidates to help you make an informed decision. Eventually we will add our 2 cents.

The BOE has completed it's work on the budget. This years budget is reduced by $2.1M while the Levy is up $3.4M. Get TUF's recommendation on the School Budget.

Council Candidates Business Taxes Issue

The petitions are in for candidates for Council. We have the list of candidates. There will be a 4 way primary battle in the 4th ward for Democrats.

At recent Council meetings angry business owners have come to complain about tremendous increases in their assessments. TUF attempts to sheds some light on the issue.

BOE Clock Candidates Debate

After 1828 days (5 years) the BOE passed its budget lifting the curse of The BOE Clock. Not only did it pass but it passed by 65%, it appears that the community now is willing to venture some trust in the BOE. Note the broken clock indicates the break in the string of loses and is not a reference to the BOE itself.

TUF can think of nothing more American than its citizens voting for whom they wish to be their leader. Finally after 3 years Franklin is allowed to see it's candidates debate.

Over Development How to help

Perhaps the biggest threat to our way of life in Franklin is development. The more houses the more traffic, higher taxes due to more children in schools and less open space/ wildlife habitat. More about over development.

The most important thing you can do to help is to attend meetings and speak out. If you remain silent nothing will change.

In their own words

TUF presents recordings of statements made by the politically active. This page is a response to many of the comments, both good and bad, that we have heard at Township meetings.

  • Township Attorney attempts to argue that debates on FTTV are illegal.
  • Who's doing the talking, Ashley-Williams or Sumter?
  • Did Councilwoman Ritchie lie about pressuring Dr. Orsini?
