BOE Reorganization 2009 April 2009
Tuesday night the BOE elected its President. Mr. Holzheimer nominated Ms. Pietrucha and Ms. Beals nominated Mr. Burns. Ms. Beals then asked that the board suspend the bylaws and allow the public to speak before the vote. The argument in favor was to hear from the public, the argument against was that this would mean that immediately afterwards they would have to amend the bylaws. There was objection to this being brought before the board at the last minute.
The vote on allowing the public to speak first (no meaning not to allow the public to speak) was Arline pass, Brown pass, Beals yes, Bernstein yes, Burns yes, Holzheimer - no, LaCorte pass, Nagy no, Pietrucha no, Arline no, Brown no, LaCorte yes. The measure failed 4-5.
Board members were then asked to raise their hands if they were in favor of Ms. Pietrucha holding the office of BOE president. Arline, Brown, Holzheimer, Nagy, and Pietrucha raised their hands. Having a five vote majority Ms. Pietrucha became president. 5-4
VP Ms. Brown nominated Mr. Arline. Mr. Burns nominated Ms. LaCorte. The vote for Arline paralleled the vote for president. 5-4
