On Dec 15th, 2007 the Planning Board unanimously voted to drop the Jack Morris Bennetts Lane Project from the COAH Fair Share Plan. Four days later the Council, in a thirty minute special meeting did the same. This ill-fated project became the center of the controversy surrounding the recall of Ellen Ritchie. Keep your eyes open however, when the new COAH rules are officially announced it's likely Mr. Morris will make another play for the development.

On Jan 1, 2008 the Council had its reorganization meeting. At that meeting Louis Rainone was replaced by Leslie London as Township Attorney. Readers will recall that Mr. Rainone was the subject of introduction to "In Their Own Words" when he gave the legal opinion that it was illegal for candidate debates to be televised on FTTV-25. TUF finds it interesting that when the balance on Council changed, as the reformers took over, Mr. Rainone reversed himself.

Speaking of TV, the Zoning Board has joined in and now will allow, by unanimous vote, its meetings to be televised. TUF is hopeful that that will begin in February. A small glitch by Zoning Board Attorney Patrick Bradshaw held up the final vote but that is expected at the next meeting. When this happens all of the major governmental bodies; Council, Planning Board, Zoning Board and the Board of Education (on Channel 14) will be televised.
