Bye-Bye Wandra - The rest of the story
December 10, 2006
At the Sept 26th Council Meeting the Township Clerk read a resignation letter from Deputy Mayor Wandra Ashley-Williams.
Thus effective October 15th WAW resigned from Council. In accordance with the law the Franklin Democrat Party submitted three names to the Council as candidates for replacement. They were Michael Orsini, Rajiv Prasad and Daniel Glicklich. The Council selected Rajiv Prasad whose term will end on December 31, 2007.
Mr. Prasad was a member of the reform movement that ousted Bill Grippo from power in the Democrat party (as were the other two candidates). Mr. Grippo has since stated the he has resigned from politics.
This leaves the Council with 5 Grippocrates still in control of the 9-member body. The remainder of the Council is made up of 3 Reform Democrats, and the Republican Mayor.
