Mike Orsini
Proven Political Courage
Mike Orsini wants to return Franklin to Franklin. When Ellen Ritchie threatened Mike's political career, trying to influence his vote, Mike put the future of the Township before everything else. He voted against the Bennetts Lane/Home Depot/660 apartment project. In doing so he expected that Ritchie would make good on her threat and he'd be an outcast from his party.
What ensued next was nothing short of a revolution. Shocked by Ritchie's actions and inspired by Mike's courage, Mike along with dozens of others reformed his party to one that also wants to return Franklin to Franklin.
Ritchie is a throwback to the "business as usual" way of conducting politics. She considers it acceptable for her as a Planning Board member and Councilwoman to meet secretly with a developer. A meeting not sanctioned by the Council and with a developer that she depends on as a campaign contributor.
Not only did Mike work to change his party, which has already changed the shape of the Township Council, he also helped collect signatures to make the recall a reality. In recalling Ms. Ritchie, Mike and his fellow Democrats are putting Franklin before their own party for the good of the people.
While others complained Mike made sacrifices and took risks to get things done.
That's why Mike has "Proven Political Courage".
