While it may have seemed to you that TUF had fallen asleep, much is going on behind the scenes.

NEW MANAGEMENT
First if you've seen the site you will notice that Chip, our founder has handed the sight over to me. His position on excess spending, out-of-control taxes and his founding TUF are just some of the reasons he was selected to be on the November ballot for Council. So, to allow him to concentrate on the campaign and to aviod any apperance of a conflict of interest I have taken over the site. See http://www.betuf.org/new_management.html for more. Don't worry I talk to Chip frequently to get advice from him. The main change is that Chip no longer has editorial control on the site so he can not be accused of using TUF to further his campaign.

FREEDOM OF SPEECH
TUF was founded to keep people informed about Township spending but due to events of the last week I have come close to changing the site to a site about First Amendment rights. The Township has sent out email to all candidates informing them of "laws" that restrict signs. The thing about it is, is that all of these "laws" appear to be directed at only the type of signs that TUF uses. We are not taking this lying down but it has consumed a lot of our time. It is TUFs opinion that most of the restrictions that the township is placing on the posting of signs are in direct violation of the Townships own laws. I am debating posting the email correspondance between Township Manager Daly and myself on the site.

CANDIDATES
TUF will be supporting the republican candidates Brain D. Levine for Mayor as well as Karen Ferguson, Robert Mettler and, it goes without saying, Chip Hoever for Township Council. I must say doing this for me is not without pain. I have almost always voted for Democrats. I am convinced however that the Democratic politicians in this Township have no interest in controlling spending (and appear to not respect the concept of free speech). We need to vote for the republicans as a block because the party with the most seats on the council controls everything. Right now its 5Ds to 4Rs. We need to tip the scale. WHAT IS NEXT
Now the really important stuff. What are we going to do next? For now, while the sign restrictions apply we REALLY NEED YOUR HELP. We are printing up thousands of signs. If you would be willing to post one (or more) on your property you can come pick them up Saturday between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM at IBS 68 Veronica Avenue - Suite 4. If you want a sign or flyers to pass out, please reply to this email and we will reserve them for you. Then all you need to do is post them. The best thing would be to put them up on your property at least 4 feet from the road. If you do that then even the township will have to agree that they are legal. We also need people to put fliers on windshield wipers or distribute them in some other manner (they can NOT be put IN mailboxes). One can distribute 250 fliers in a parking lot in about an hour. We will have signs for each candidate, for the group of four candidates, and for TUF. Please, to get either signs or flyers reply to this email or call 732-296-1827 and say your calling for TUF signs.

Finally, WE REALLY NEED YOU NOW. We will be saying this over and over again in the next few weeks. This is the time to act. If you want to control spending you can't leave it for the next guy or the other TUFers. WE NEED ALL OF YOU.
