Mayor's Advisory Council
FRANKLIN TWP. - Shortly after winning as the first directly elected mayor of Franklin Township, then mayor-elect Brian Levine announced his new Mayor's Advisory Council as a part of his campaign pledge of more open government in Franklin Township. Levine's advisory council will be made up of approximately eight to ten people from different areas of the township and representing different demographics. "We've had a tremendous response so far, but I don't think our pool of candidates adequately represents the cross section of Franklin citizens," Levine said. Therefore, he is putting out a call to all Franklin residents who have a desire to serve on the Advisory Council.
"The purpose of the Advisory Council will be to do exactly what the name implies, to advise me on the feelings of the taxpayers throughout the township." After winning the election Levine pledged to be a Mayor for all the people of Franklin and to be non-partisan in his decision making for the Township. "We are going to change the way Franklin does business and have a more open, people-friendly government", Levine said shortly after winning the election. "Now we're making good on that pledge", Levine said.
"We're not looking to make it a difficult process", Levine said, "simply send us an e-mail or letter stating your interest in serving and how you think your background or skill set will help the group and Township as a while". To do this Levine has set up an e-mail address (AdviseMayor@aol.com) solely to receive applications for the Advisory Council. Those who do not have e-mail access can mail their letter to Advise the Mayor, Franklin Township Municipal Building, 475 DeMott Lane, Somerset, NJ 08873.
