Misconceptions

A number of misconceptions have surfaced about TUF. This page is devoted to answering the ones we've heard. If you've heard others contact us.

  • TUF points out problems but not solutions - This was partially true until October 7th when we published our solutions page. More details there.

  • TUF wants to cut fire department and police funding - Wrong Wrong Wrong. TUF has never uttered a word about either and we don't plan to do so. To our knowledge all of the candidates that TUF endorses support both.

  • TUF wants to cancel the Library and Animal Shelter project - Wrong again. TUF supports both projects. We want them to be the best they can be without waste. Again see the solutions page.

  • TUF is part of Chip Hoever's campaign. No Chip started TUF because he was fed up by overspending. Because of these efforts the Republican party invited Chip to run for Township Council. To avoid a conflict of interest he then handed TUF over to me.

  • TUF is partisan towards Republicans. Kramer is a republican. No and I must shamefully say yes. TUF will support anyone that promotes our goal to control spending. On our endorsements page we supported Mr. Chivukula (until he adamantly voted against strong campaign financing reform). While we don't like his spending in the Township we applaud Assemblyman Chivukula's co-sponsoring of A-540, a bill in the assembly that calls for a New Jersey Constitutional Convention on Taxes.

But sadly when I wrote this I was a Republican. Despite voting almost entirely Democrat I've usually registered as Democrat and occasionally as an independent until 2000 when my disdain for George W. lead to me to register as a Republican to vote against Bush in the primary. I neglected to change it back, forgot about it and was quite surprised to find out I was still a Republican. I'm sorry if I offended my Republican readers. Prior to the 2004 election I re-registered as a Democrat

  • A good Democrat can't vote Republican. I felt the same way. What I have found is that this group of Republicans have the integrity and principals that I've always attributed to Democrats. Remember Township politics is mostly about money not about choice, guns or the other typical social issues we think about on the state and federal level. I still vote Democratic for those levels of government. Why then did I support Catherine Barrier? Because I've found her to be of high integrity and This is TUF and TUF is about taxes. Hey political choices aren't always simple.
