Subject: Farewell (please distribute)
To: Chairman Theodore Chase and Members of the Franklin Township Planning Board
For five years I have served on the Franklin Township Planning Board. It truly has been a wonderful experience for me – having worked alongside a host of bright, dedicated and passionate residents from this lovely township. I will fondly remember everyone and the various perspectives brought to the meetings - which in my opinion not only spanned the various landuse sectors of our township but more importantly represented the diverse views of its people. Having participated in the development of the recent Master Plan was a special opportunity for me. I sincerely believe that Franklin Township has been provided with a well-prepared, comprehensive landuse “roadmap” that will serve to bridge and protect the historic integrity, present endeavors and future opportunities of our municipality.
While no one would argue that we strove to work collaboratively on the important tasks entrusted to us, there were a few dark days along the path that tested not only our collective responsibility to objectively weigh the findings and merits for decision-making but that also forced us to peer within ourselves to reflect and question that which we believe to be morally just. Nevertheless, in the course of business (as in life) such tests do present opportunities for growth. I believe time will show it was during those difficult periods that the Franklin Township Planning Board demonstrated its resolve in serving and fulfilling its mission to the public.
In closing, I want to thank you all for the wonderful opportunity to work together. For the New Year and beyond, I wish each and everyone all the best. While I now plan to devote more time to my family, I hope that one day in the future I might be able to return to serve on the Planning Board. In the interim, I am satisfied in knowing that the residents and businesses of Franklin are, and will continue to be, represented by those individuals having their best interests at heart.
Respectfully,
Terry Wesley
